Please join us in watching the documentary Wheels of Justice and talking about our efforts in advocacy.
A film that shines a light on how people with disabilities are fighting for their legal rights in a society that is yet to fully realize that these rights exist. This film highlights issues around: the essential role that wheelchairs and other assistive technology plays in the lives of people with spinal cord injuries and other complex disabilities, the importance of robust health care coverage and legal advocacy, and the dangers associated with pressure sores – every day in this country, 164 people die from pressure ulcers while, as a reference, 102 people per day die from automobile accidents. And, DLC’s plans for Wheels of Justice – Through this film, DLC hopes to shine a light on how people with disabilities are fighting for their rights in a society that has yet to fully realize that those rights exist. Most importantly, we hope to highlight how individuals with disabilities are constantly trying to break down actual barriers to access and inclusion. Throughout the coming year, DLC will use this film as part of our advocacy efforts to raise community awareness on the need for accessibility and inclusion for all people with disabilities as we continue to ensure that all people with disabilities have the ability to participate fully and equally in the social and economic life of Massachusetts.
